Should skinny guys do intermittent fasting? How would this effect your muscle gains and lifestyle? Let’s find out…

In this article, I wanted to lay a couple ground rules on if you’re a skinny guy and want to use intermittent fasting.

Being here on Kinobody, I’m sure you’re aware of the intermittent fasting weight loss benefits as well as its awesome lifestyle and health benefits. It’s no secret that using intermittent fasting is one of the most effective ways to aid you to reaching your fitness goals with ease.

So the question is now, should skinny guys do intermittent fasting?

Intermittent fasting is a great diet protocol for losing body fat. The good news is that it’s also a great muscle building diet protocol if you get in sufficient calories.

Us skinny guys already have a difficult time getting in enough calories to hit the proper surplus for muscle and strength gains.

If we fail to eat enough, we are stuck spinning our wheels without making any gains. I’m sure most of you been there, done that…

Should Skinny Guys Do Intermittent Fasting?

I still fast each and every day and muscle and strength gains come very easily for me now (we’ll get to me in a moment, this is about you.)

When this question is brought up to me, I usually get the response:

“Trent, if skinny guys need to eat so much, why not start eating as soon as you wake up to get in all your calories?”

My response is usually along the lines of:

“If you need to do that, great! Do that! But why do so many skinny guys still struggle to eat enough?”

Sure, this can be effected by a bunch of things, but I want you to take a step back and really think about what YOU need to do to accomplish your fitness goals.

The most important thing you can never forget, is to lock in your calories. So the short answer is, yes, skinny guys can use intermittent fasting. But if you can’t hit your calorie surplus, then we have a problem.

If you’re a beginner, I recommend learning how to eat more food and your daily calories first. Overtime, you will adjust to eating more food.

Funny enough, intermittent fasting trained me to handle larger meals! When I used to eat every 2-3 hours, that conditioned my body to only handle smaller meals. Again, that was just my experience.

How To Do Intermittent Fasting For Skinny guys

Let’s go over a couple ground rules on intermittent fasting for skinny guys.

1) Utilize a four hour fast

To be honest, fasting for 6, 7, or even 8 hours makes it pretty difficult for me to hit my daily calories.

This is why I only fast for about 4 hours each morning. I love having these 4 hours to also be super productive and tackle the biggest tasks of my day in this time.

What I also found out doing the quick four hour fasts is that I actually build up an appetite!

When I first wake up in the morning, I don’t even want to see or smell food. Fasting for a short amount of time helps me build up my appetite and give my body a break from food.

2) Make Sure Your Counting Calories And Using Diet Hacks

Regardless, you should be tracking your calories. If you throw fasting into the mix without tracking, there’s a pretty good chance you’re going to end up under-eating.

As well, after eating your main meals for the day, don’t forget the awesome diet hacks such as, dried fruit, liquid calories, etc., to easily get in your calories.

3) Plan Ahead

If you intend on using intermittent fasting, make sure you have an idea on when you’re going to be eating all of your meals.

Take a look at your schedule, plan out when you’ll be fasting and when you’ll have time for food. Nothing is worse than realizing you have over 1000 calories to eat around bedtime.

Another important question to address is if one would lose their precious gains if they started fasting.

Of course not…

Given, that you still get in sufficient calories and nail your diet.

Again, this is coming from personal experience and what has worked for me. I want to do the best I can at sharing my journey to help you reach your goals faster and more enjoyably.

At first, it was a little difficult to get in my calories when I first found Kinobody. But the ectomorph transformation you see above; I was fasting each and every day.

Should Skinny Guys Do Intermittent Fasting – The Bottom Line

Intermittent fasting for skinny guys is perfectly fine! But you MUST be able to still eat enough.

Then it also comes down to what you enjoy the most. So you can stay consistent and see incredible results.

If you try fasting and you have trouble hitting your calories. Then you need to adjust something. The diet hacks, and 4 hour fasting window can only get you so far.

Build some muscle first.

Overall, there is no reason as to why a skinny guy can or cannot do intermittent fasting as long as the priorities are straight and it’s enjoyable for you.
